"Circles and lines of light"

The illy Art Collection coffee cups, optical and geometric motif created by Tobias Rehberger, are inspired by the installation he created in the new Palace of Exhibitions at the Giardini in Venice, with illy coffee as protagonist. Tobias Rehberger plays with the light on those who are not drawings, but pulses of light and shadow, solids and voids, volumes of a vibration that modulates the space of a porcelain cup giving it the shape of the imagination. The camouflage effect generates interest, wonder, wonder, sense of movement and dynamism that goes well with the ritual of espresso . 

Each pack/set contains 6 espresso cups with saucers or 6 cappuccino cups with saucers, decorated with the "Black & White, "Orange & Yellow Stripe", "Circles Orange & Black Stripes", "Orange & Black Stripes", "Circles Orange & Yellow Stripe". 

World-renowned German artist Tobias Rehberger designed this illy cup collection to celebrate the 53rd Venice Biennale. His design treats the white surface of the cup and saucer as a blank canvas, with striking optical effects and geometric patterns which are reminiscent of his work at the Galleria illy 2010.

Born 1966 - Esslingen. It is one of he most successful artists of contemporary Germany. Light is his instrument par excellence: it affects perception and target reference points creates space-time. Other means are spaces, design, crafts, fashion, cinema, music, architecture. For Rehberger everything is functional to highlight the contradictions of the art system and find escape routes. In a friendly way, often interactive, provides the solution to reinterpret objects, environments, characters.He received the Golden Lion at 53. edition of the International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia, as the best artist of the exhibition "Making Worlds". 

Works of Tobias Rehberger are present at Rebaudengo in Turin, at the Centre George Pompidou in Paris, the Hamburger Kunsthalle Hamburg, at the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, at the National Museum Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt.
